Updated-Shannen Doherty And Ex-Husband Fight Over Spousal Support

Shannen is now claiming Kurt is waiting for her to die from her terminal cancer; so, he doesn’t have to pay any spousal support.

“It is simply not right that Kurt be permitted to prolong our divorce in hopes that I die before he is required to pay me while he continues to live his life and shirk his responsibilities to his dying wife of more than 11 years,” she states in the documents given to People.

Kurt is denying Shannen’s claim because he offered a settlement back in October 2023. However, the previous offering did not figure in proceeds form the photographer’s original photography works.

The star is claiming Iswarienko is living a rich lifestyle. She asserts that she hasn’t received any of the couple’s money, their airplane, or use of their Texas vacation home.

“Kurt has been utilizing the airplane, spending thousands of dollars at medical spas, jewelry stores, Gucci, and on flights… while simultaneously claiming he has insufficient funds with which to support me,” Shannen stated in the filing.

Per calculations, Kurt has made almost $700,000 per year over the last 3 years; while, Shannen is averaging about $260,000 annually. She is also accruing thousands of dollars of legal fees.

Shannen Doherty filed for divorce from Kurt Iswarienko back in 2023. One of her conditions of the divorce was her hope to receive spousal support from Kurt. The actress feels her ex is moving too slowly. He has not submitted his financials to the court.

According to Doherty, she found out that Iswarienko was having an affair for two years before she had brain surgery in January of 2023 to remove a tumor related to her stage 4 cancer.

The alleged affair left Doherty feeling betrayed by Iswarienko. Her rep said that Doherty didn’t want to divorce; but, she felt it was her only choice

According to an article by In Touch, Doherty, filed a motion for Kurt to share his financial information with the court. Kurt makes his living as a photographer, and he has not answered questions about his work that he completed while married to Shannen.

The actress feels his “archive” of photographs is his biggest asset, and it could be regarded as community property of the marriage. He has refused to provide his financial asset data for months.

The actress said, “Despite months of efforts to meet and confer, Kurt has failed to substantively respond to Shannen’s overarching concerns, namely: she needs an inventory of the original works Kurt created during marriage. This inventory of photographs comprises his “Archive”, which is the most valuable community property asset that he possesses. For months, he has refused to comply for various reasons.”

Doherty told the court Kurt has not given her the “most basic and necessary financial information regarding his work as a professional photographer.” Her lawyer continued, “Instead, he has made settlement proposals and skirted around the issues of the value of his original works created during marriage, his earning capacity, and Shannen’s right to discover the community property archive of photographs which is likely the most valuable asset that Kurt contributed to this union.”

She needs to receive spousal support because most of her money comes from the television show ‘Charmed’ which ended in 2006. Her lawyer said  Shannen made her money from acting before the couple was married. She is not able to work very much because of her stage 4 cancer.

Her lawyer stated, “The majority of her residual income is from a television show called ‘Charmed’. However, Charmed will no longer be streaming on any major streaming platforms after June 30, 2024. As a result, Shannen’s future residual income will dramatically decrease.”

On the other hand, Kurt is a popular photographer for movies and tv. He routinely works for Netflix, Hulu, NBC Universal, Sony and many others. In addition, he does work for celebrities and publications. Shannen is requesting $11,000 because Kurt is not complying with the court’s request.

Per In Touch magazine, Shannen makes $21,000 per month. “She listed $250k in the bank with $1.8 million in stock and bonds. She said the $1.8 million amount includes the settlement she received from her court battle with her insurance company over the Woolsey Fire. Doherty said she had around $3 million in other property. Her monthly expenses total $53k.” Shannen continues to receive treatment for stage 4 metastatic breast cancer.
